Nearly five years after introducing the XUV700, Mahindra has launched the XUV 7XO as its thoroughly updated successor. The XUV 7XO’s exterior is an evolution over the XUV700’s design but retains the same dimensions as the latter. However, the facelift has brought along new styling cues both on the exterior and interior while extending the premium look and feel of the XUV700.

The petrol-powered variants of the 2026 Mahindra XUV 7XO utilise a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mill. Called the ‘mStallion’, this four-cylinder direct-injection engine churns out 203hp at 5,000rpm and 380Nm of torque, available in the 1,750-3,000rpm range.

Meanwhile, the XUV 7XO diesel gets the brand’s ‘mHawk’ engine, which produces 185hp at 3,500rpm. The torque is capped at 420Nm (1,600-2,800rpm) when paired with the 6-speed manual gearbox, with 450Nm available between 1,750rpm and 2,800rpm when mated to the 6-speed torque-converter automatic.

If you have a budget of around Rs 20 lakh, the AX7 trim represents good value by packing in plenty of features, both for the front- and rear-seat occupants, and offering all available powertrain options. On the other hand, if you are chauffeur-driven regularly and like individual captain seats instead of the regular bench-type, upgrading to the top-end AX7L will leave little room for complaints. Not only does this top trim offer seat ventilation and sunblinds, but it also gets a dedicated charging pad for the middle-row occupants.
