JSW Jetour T2 – What We Know So Far
The upcoming SUV is expected to be launched under the JSW brand without using the Jetour nameplate. It will be locally assembled at JSW’s upcoming manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. The new SUV is expected to hit showrooms by Q3 2026, subject to final approvals.
JSW Jetour T2 Powertrain Options
For the Indian market, JSW are expected to launch a range-extender electric powertrain to align with the group’s focus on sustainable mobility. While global markets get electric and conventional petrol versions, India is likely to receive the range-extender setup, where the petrol engine acts as a generator to charge the battery, while twin electric motors handle the driving duties.
This configuration allows for extended driving range without full dependence on charging infrastructure, making it more practical for India than a conventional EV. Internationally, the Jetour T2 with the range extender setup is offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layouts, though it remains unclear which configuration JSW will introduce here.
Design, Size And Positioning
The Jetour T2 stands out with its upright and boxy SUV design and takes design inspiration from the Land Rover Defender. Based on a monocoque platform, the T2 is expected to offer a good balance of road comfort and off-road capability.
In terms of size, the Jetour T2 is slightly larger than the Mahindra Scorpio-N, with a length of 4.7 metres and a width of 2 metres. It offers a wheelbase of 2800mm and a height of 1875mm, which should give it immense road presence.
Expected Prices And Rivals
JSW have not revealed pricing or positioning yet, but for reference, the 5-seat, front-wheel-drive T2 i-DM retails at the equivalent of around Rs. 35 lakh in the UAE. With local assembly and selective localisation, the India-spec model could be positioned competitively within the premium SUV segment, sitting above mainstream offerings but below luxury brands.
