Since the launch of the MG Windsor back in September 2024, the official accessory list has contained the mention of front parking sensors and rear parcel tray. But neither were available to buy until recently.
Rear Parcel Tray
As for the parcel shelf, this is a feature that is available in almost all cars these days all the way down to the Alto k10. Only a few cars, such as the Comet or 3-row cars like the Ertiga and Triber don’t get this feature. That’s because they don’t have enough space between the rear seat backrest and the boot lid to — first of all, keep much cargo there and secondly, to peek through causing privacy issues. Besides sedans and a few such cars highlighted above, all cars with an opening rear hatch get a parcel tray straight from the factory. Meanwhile, the Windsor not only didn’t offer this feature, but they didn’t even have the accessory in stock for almost 9 months since product launch.
Front Parking Sensors
The front parking sensors are even visible on the front bumpers of Windsor on MG’s official website as if they are available as standard. But they only recently became available to buy as an accessory.
Here’s a funny thing about the Windsor’s front parking sensors. According to the brochure, they are only compatible with the base model of the Windsor, which doesn’t get the 360-degree camera. It should be noted that most cars get a rear parking camera and also parking sensors. The audible warning from the parking sensors lets you maneuver close to the objects and obstacles while you can maintain your focus on the corners and other sides.
The fact that MG deem front parking sensors irrelevant for car owners who have a 360-degree camera is beyond comprehension. It appears even more absurd because soon after you start the car, the parking sensors start beeping to help you navigate through tight spots but the screen usually takes a good while to boot up and load the 360-degree camera view. So, you have to wait for that even if you are ready to roll out of the parking space. If a new car takes its own minute or so to bring up the camera, you can imagine how it might perform 5 or 10 years down the line.
Delay
Both of these features have been listed in the MG Windsor’s official accessory brochure but the prices for these weren’t announced. Possibly because the part itself wasn’t ready yet.
V2V charging cable, which is usable with the Pro variants of the Windsor is also not available at the time of writing this article. MG haven’t even decided on what they intend to set the asking price for this accessory. However, with the launch of Pro variants of the Windsor with larger battery pack, the previously unavailable accessories have started to become available.
If you intend to buy these, don’t expect dealers to have them in stock. You should be ready to wait a few weeks after you make the payment while they ship from the factory.
