Kia Carens Clavis
Kia India has revealed the Carens Clavis as a more premium version of the Carens MPV, on which it is based. Except for the Carens Clavis price, which will be announced on May 23, almost all other key details have been made official. Given the higher positioning and upgrades, the Clavis MPV will be pricier than the Carens. Notably, eight out of nine Kia Carens variants have been discontinued to make way for the new Clavis. As for rivals, the 2025 Carens Clavis goes against the Toyota Rumion, Maruti Ertiga and XL6.

The new Clavis shares its width, height and wheelbase dimensions with the Carens MPV; both Kia cars are wider and have a longer wheelbase than the rest. However, the Maruti XL6 is the tallest here at 1,755mm. The wheel size for the Clavis ranges between 15 to 17 inches, offering more variety than its rivals, and it also offers both 6 (captain seats in the middle row) and 7-seat configurations. On the other hand, the XL6 offers 6 seats, while the Ertiga and Rumion settle with a 7-seater configuration.

The Kia Carens Clavis offers the widest variety of 1.5-litre engines here, including naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel guises (these also mirror the Carens engine lineup). The Kia Carens and Clavis are the only models in this group to offer a diesel engine, though they skip the CNG option entirely. Talking about engine output, the Kia MPV siblings lead with up to 160hp and 253Nm, far ahead of the 103hp and sub-140Nm figures from the Maruti and Toyota cars.
Transmission options are also the highest in the Clavis, including MT, iMT, AT and DCT, compared to the manual and automatic pairings in its Japanese rivals. The standard Carens, now available in a single variant, pairs the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with an iMT unit, while the Carens Clavis offers a manual gearbox for the same engine. All models get a 45-litre fuel tank, including petrol and diesel, except for the CNG variants with a 60-litre (water equivalent) capacity.
