Hyundai Nexo To Undergo Real-World Trials

As part of this partnership, Hyundai has handed over a Nexo Hydrogen FCEV to IndianOil. This vehicle will undergo extensive real-world testing on Indian roads over the next 2 years, covering an estimated distance of 40,000km. The trials aim to evaluate the longevity and operational reliability of hydrogen FCEVs under diverse Indian driving conditions.

Beyond performance evaluation, the partnership will also focus on conducting a comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assessment. This study will analyse operational and maintenance costs associated with hydrogen-powered vehicles, providing crucial insights into their long-term economic and environmental benefits for potential Indian consumers.

This collaboration aligns with India’s growing emphasis on alternative fuel technologies and its commitment to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions. The Indian government’s National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to position the country as a global hub for the production and export of green hydrogen.

Dr. Alok Sharma, Director (R&D) and Board Member of IndianOil, highlighted hydrogen’s importance in India’s clean energy roadmap, saying:
