The Standard version of the Model Y gets a WLTP range of up to 500km and can sprint from 0 to 100kph in 5.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the Long Range variant has a WLTP-certified range of 622km and a 0-100kph acceleration time of 5.6 seconds. Although the Tesla India website does not specify it clearly, internationally, the Standard Model Y gets a 63kWh battery with a 283hp rear motor, while the Long Range gets an 83kWh battery with a 312hp rear motor. Both have a claimed top speed of 201kph.

Tesla claims the Long Range battery can be topped off with up to 267km of range in just 15 minutes using its Supercharger at a charging rate of 250kWh. Tesla will set up 16 Superchargers in India, with eight initial ones coming up in and around Mumbai and Delhi.
Tesla Model Y exterior and interior design
Very understated design; interior controls heavily rely on touchscreen
The Model Y has arrived in India in its latest facelifted guise that was revealed in January this year. And in typical Tesla fashion, it is very understated. The fascia is characterised by just a full-width LED light bar; the headlamps are positioned on the bumper and are bordered by air vents. The profile, though, has a few creases, flush-fitting door handles, a large glasshouse and 19-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels. At the rear, it has a sloping roofline, a ducktail spoiler, full-width LED tail-lamps and a dual-tone finish for the bumper.

The interior, too, is very minimalistic and is just dominated by a large 15.4-inch touchscreen. There are almost no buttons at all, except for a few on the steering wheel, and even the AC vents are concealed within the dashboard and are electronically operated. There are a lot of storage spaces on the centre console, though, and an 8-inch touchscreen at the rear to control seats, AC and media functions.
