The Simple One Gen 2 isn’t radically different from the erstwhile Gen 1.5. However, it aims to build on the Gen 1.5’s strengths and refine the overall package. Here are all the differences between the Simple One Gen 1.5 and Gen 2.
Simple One Gen 2 vs Gen 1.5: Design and features
The Gen 2 looks similar to the outgoing model
The Simple One Gen 2 looks similar to the Gen 1.5 although it gets a few nips and tucks to refine its design and structural integrity. The structural joints have been optimised for better rigidity, which the company claims will translate to a sharper and more predictable ride. The suspension has also been retuned and the seat height has dropped by 16mm (780mm) with the seat foam being stiffer. The overall kerb weight of the Gen 2 has dropped by 7kg, it now tips the scale at 129kg. Its under seat storage capacity too has increased by 1 liter (35 liters).

Simple One Gen 2 vs Gen 1.5: Battery pack and peak output
Simple Energy has also introduced a lifetime warranty on motor and battery across its vehicle portfolio
The outgoing Simple One Gen 1.5 was available only with a 5kWh battery, whereas the new Gen 2 offers option of a 4.5kWh battery pack and 5kWh one. The peak power for the 5kWh variant has gone up from the earlier 8.6kW to 8.8kW (0.2kW increase) with a claimed 0-40kph time of 2.55 seconds and a top-speed of 115kph. Its claimed IDC range has also increased from the earlier 248km to 265km.
On the other hand, the smaller 4.5kWh battery pack variant gets a peak power of 6.4kW and an IDC range of 236km. Simple Energy has also introduced a lifetime warranty on motor and battery across its vehicle portfolio. Simple One Gen 2 scooters support home charging via a portable 750W charger.
Simple One Gen 2 vs Gen 1.5: Features
The Gen 2 now gets four different traction control modes and two levels of cruise control
The Gen 2 introduces several software updates with SimpleOS. It also introduces two new riding modes: EcoX and SonicX. The former analyses throttle input, speed patterns and riding environment to adjust and optimises output for maximum range. Whereas the latter unlocks the full 115kph top speed.
The scooter gets four different traction modes and four levels of regenerative braking. It also features two levels of cruise control – a standard mode for highways and a metro mode for city use. Additional features include vehicle fall cutoff, hill-hold assist and emergency braking lights that trigger the brake lights under hard braking. There’s also a new set of switchgear for the TFT operated via a 4-way joystick on the left and the hazard light switch on the right.
Simple One Gen 2 vs Gen 1.5: Price
The One Gen 2 is priced from Rs 1.70 lakh
The Simple One Gen 2 range starts at Rs 1.70 lakh for the Simple One (4.5kWh) and goes up to Rs 1.78 lakh for the Simple One (5kWh). The scooter will be available in three new colours: Sonic Red, Aero X and Asphalt X. At this price, the 4.5kWh variant is about Rs 4,000 more expensive than the Gen 1.5 (5 kWh) whose last recorded price was Rs 1.66 lakh.
