Maruti Suzuki Cars To Get A Significant Price Hike Soon
To recap, when GTS rates on cars were revised downward last year, Maruti Suzuki passed on the benefit to customers by cutting prices across most of their model range, Beyond the price correction due to lower GTS, Maruti Suzuki went a step further by offering additional discounts to stimulate demand. As a result, several entry-level models became significantly more affordable.
For instance, select variants of the S-Presso received price reductions of up to Rs. 67,000 over and above the GST-led price adjustment. Similarly, select Alto variants saw additional cuts of as much as Rs. 50,000.
However, according to our sources, Maruti Suzuki are now set to withdraw these additional discounts. This means that while the GST benefit itself remains intact, the additional discounts layered on top of it will no longer be available. As a result, the prices of Maruti cars are expected to rise sharply once the rollback comes into effect from mid-January.
Here’s a quick look at the expected model-wise price hike:

What Does This Mean For Car Buyers?
What this means for car buyers is fairly simple. Customers planning to purchase a Maruti car in the coming days still have a window of opportunity to lock in the older, lower prices. In many cases, buyers may also be able to negotiate further discounts, especially on MY2025 stock that dealers are keen to clear before the updated prices fully settle in. This could make the next few days particularly attractive for value-focused buyers looking at popular models such as the Alto, S-Presso, WagonR and Brezza.
For potential buyers, the key takeaway is timing. Those who act before January 15 stand to benefit from prices that are considerably lower than what will be on offer later in the month. Waiting beyond that date could mean paying significantly more for the same car, unless fresh discounts or schemes are announced at a later stage.
