
Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Porsche, Lotus and Kia are the only car brands in India that have electric SUVs priced above Rs 1 crore, ex-showroom, in their current portfolio. While strong performance, along with plenty of features, are expected at this price, the EVs listed below also offer impressive WLTP-rated ranges, from 410km to 644km on a single charge. Read on for the variant-wise specs of these luxury e-SUVs, arranged from the least to the most expensive.
Audi Q8 e-tron

Not only is the Audi Q8 e-tron the most accessible SUV on this list, but it’s also the cheapest Audi EV in India right now. Quattro (or all-wheel drive in Audi speak) is standard on the Q8 e-tron, with the range-starting 95kWh-50 variant making 340hp and the top-spec 114kWh-55 trim generating 408hp; 664Nm peak torque output is the same for both. Respective claimed range figures of the Q8 e-tron variants are 491km and 582km on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) cycle.

The Porsche Macan EV, the German luxury marque’s sole electric SUV, is available here in three 100kWh variants: standard [340hp (360hp with overboost), 563Nm], 4S Electric [448hp (516hp with overboost), 820Nm] and Turbo Electric [584hp (639hp with overboost), 1,130Nm]; just the latter two come with an AWD setup. While the base Macan EV makes less output than the other variants, it boasts the highest WLTP range figure of 641km, followed by 4S Electric’s 606km and Turbo Electric’s 591km.
Kia EV9

The Kia EV9 is sold in a single GT-Line trim in the country, and it stands out on this list as the only SUV to offer three rows of seating. A 99.8kWh battery pack powers two electric motors, one each at the front and rear, which together produce 384hp and 700Nm. On a full charge, the Kia EV9 returns a 561km range, rated by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). According to the WLTP protocol, the Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD has a range of 505km.
Mercedes EQE SUV

Despite being positioned one below the EQS SUV, which is assembled in India, the Mercedes EQE SUV has a higher price tag due to its full import status. Powered by a 90.6kWh battery pack, the EQE 500 4Matic (or AWD in Mercedes speak) makes 408hp and 858Nm of peak torque. Range is 550km (WLTP).

Locally assembled at the carmaker’s Chakan facility in Maharashtra since 2024, all Mercedes EQS SUV models feature a 122kWh battery pack, the biggest here, along with an all-wheel drive layout. The base EQS SUV 450 4Matic pushes out 360hp and 800Nm, while the 580 4Matic makes 544hp and 858Nm. The EQS’s 450 and 580 trim levels have impressive ARAI-rated ranges of 821km and 809km, respectively. For reference, the EQS 450 and 580 models have a WLTP range bracket between 607km and 644km.

Also on sale is the more premium Maybach EQS SUV 680 4Matic, which is brought here via the completely built-up route and is costlier than the CKD variants by about Rs 1 crore. While the massive battery is carried over, the Maybach EQS SUV makes superior peak outputs of 658hp and 955Nm from its more powerful dual-motor arrangement. WLTP-certified range stands at 611km.
BMW iX

xDrive 50: Rs 1.4 crore

One of the core rivals to the Mercedes EQC SUV, the BMW iX is available in just the xDrive 50 guise; the xDrive 40 variant introduced initially has been discontinued. Its 111.5kWh battery powers a dual electric motor setup, with one motor on each axle to enable all-wheel drive. Combined, these electric motors make 523hp and 765Nm. The BMW iX has a WLTP range of 635km.
Lotus Eletre

After Kia, Lotus is the only non-German car brand to feature in this listicle. The Lotus Eletre lineup in India is divided into the 600 and 900 series, both of which have been equipped with a 112kWh battery pack. The 600, 600 GT SE and 600 Sport SE variants of the Eletre generate 612hp and 710Nm, while the higher-ranked 900 Sport and 900 Sport Carbon are good for 918hp and 985Nm; AWD (via front and rear electric motors) is standard on all Eletre models. Talking about Eletre’s WLTP range, the 600 trim leads with a 570km-600km bracket, followed by 530km 600 GT SE and 490km 600 Sport SE. Both the 900 Sport and 900 Sport Carbon have a claimed 410km single-charge range.

Mercedes G Class electric

Rounding off this listicle is the G Class electric, Mercedes’ electric SUV flagship. The Mercedes G 580 with EQ Technology is equipped with a 116kWh battery, but unlike the rest electric vehicles here that feature a dual motor setup (excluding the base RWD Macan EV), the G Class EV opts for a quad motor one. This system’s combined output stands at 587hp and 1,164Nm. Mercedes claims a maximum range of 473km with the all-electric G Wagon on the WLTP cycle.
