The XUV 7XO, launched at a starting price of Rs 13.66 lakh, ex-showroom, for the first 40,000 units, replaces the XUV700 nameplate as Mahindra’s ICE-powered flagship SUV. Essentially an XUV700 facelift, the 7XO brings a refreshed exterior design along with feature additions such as a triple-screen setup, electronically operated ‘boss’ mode for the front passenger seat, and a 540-degree surround-view camera, to name a few. In this article, we compare the XUV 7XO’s specifications against those of the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar.
Mahindra XUV 7XO vs rivals: Dimensions
Mahindra upsizes the XUV 7XO’s alloys to 19 inches with the facelift.

The XUV 7XO trails the Hector in length and the Alcazar in wheelbase, coming marginally close in both aspects. Meanwhile, the Safari is the widest and tallest and has the highest ground clearance. The XUV 7XO now gets 19-inch alloys, the same as the Safari, while the Hector Plus and Alcazar have 18-inch wheels.
Mahindra XUV 7XO vs rivals: Diesel engine specs
Hector Plus is the only model here without a diesel-AT option.

*The Hector Plus diesel is yet to be launched but is expected to carry over the engine from the pre-facelift model.
The XUV 7XO’s diesel engine has the highest displacement and power figures by a healthy margin. While all SUVs offer a 6-speed manual gearbox with their diesel engines, the Hector lacks a diesel-automatic. Notably, the XUV 7XO is the only one in the segment to have AWD options, available in the top diesel-automatic variants with the 7-seat configuration.
Mahindra XUV 7XO vs rivals: Turbo-petrol engine specs
XUV 7XO’s turbo-petrol unit produces the most power.
Even in petrol form, the XUV 7XO is the most powerful here, followed by the Safari and Alcazar. It packs a larger 2.0-litre engine, while others get a 1.5-litre unit. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard across all SUVs, but automatic options vary: a torque-converter automatic in the XUV 7XO and Safari, a CVT in the Hector Plus and a DCT in the Alcazar.
Mahindra XUV 7XO vs rivals: Prices
XUV 7XO starting price is the lowest, but Alcazar has the most affordable top-end variant.

In petrol guise, the XUV 7XO comes across as the most affordable model here. Moreover, its base AX trim is well-equipped with features such as a triple-screen setup, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech and cruise control. The Safari has the lowest entry price among the diesel offerings, but it’s also the most expensive at the top end. The Hector petrol and Alcazar diesel have the most affordable top trims.
All prices are ex-showroom, India.
