The Hypermotard 698 Mono is Ducati’s first modern single-cylinder motorcycle in nearly four decades. It follows typical Hypermotard styling with a tall, flat bench-style seat, beaky front fender, high front mudguard and sharp tail. One curious design detail is that Ducati has retained twin exhaust mufflers despite this being a single-cylinder engine. The bike is available in classic Ducati red, with an RVE variant also offered. It runs on five-spoke alloy wheels shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 rubber.
The Hypermotard 698 Mono is powered by a new 659cc Superquadro Mono single-cylinder engine that produces 77.5hp at 9,750rpm and 63Nm at 8,000rpm, which rises to 84.5hp and 67Nm when paired with the optional Termignoni racing exhaust. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
