First Bentley EV platform details
Incredibly quick charging.
Bentley’s debut EV is said to offer “industry-leading charging speeds”, delivering 100 miles (161km) of range in seven minutes of charging. This indicates that the Bentley EV could provide charging speeds of up to 300kW, which is quite high by EV standards. At 350kW, the Lotus Eletre is the only electric SUV that surpasses DC charging speeds of 300kW.
Bentley EV could be similar to Porsche Cayenne Electric.
Since the Bentley EV leverages an offshoot of the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) skateboard built by Audi and Porsche, it could be mechanically comparable to the upcoming Cayenne Electric. Both electric SUVs are expected to measure under five metres long, with the Cayenne Electric confirmed to offer a 108kWh dual-motor layout. The Bentley EV might feature a similar powertrain.
As for when the Bentley EV will go on sale, the British ultra-luxury carmaker has affirmed that the global market launch is slated towards the end of 2026. Deliveries of the Bentley EV will commence in 2027.
Bentley will offer plug-in hybrid models for the next decade at least.
Alongside the above details, Bentley revealed that plug-in hybrid models, such as the Continental GT and Flying Spur, will remain on sale until at least 2035 owing to the positive demand. Bentley previously committed to offering an exclusively electric model portfolio by 2035.
