At the event that was likely the final teaser for the new Nissan MPV, christened Gravite, the automaker also revealed its launch plans for the next two years. By 2027, Nissan India’s portfolio will increase to four models, including the Magnite, which is currently the company’s only model on sale here, marking the Japanese brand’s strong refocus on its Indian operations.

Updated Nissan Magnite for 2026
MY2026 Magnite likely to have updated feature list.
The expansion of its line-up will start with the MY2026 Magnite. This is likely to be a minor update in terms of features for the compact SUV, which rivals the likes of the Renault Kiger and Maruti Fronx. No major design or mechanical changes are expected. The updated Magnite is likely to launch before the Gravite arrives in showrooms in March.
Nissan Tekton launch schedule
Nissan Tekton to debut in February 2026.

The Japanese brand has announced that before it reveals Gravite prices in March, it will take the wraps off the Tekton, a rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra. This midsize SUV, which shares its CMF-B platform with the Renault Duster and is likely to have the same powertrain options, has been teased repeatedly, giving us hints of its exterior and interior design. The Nissan Tekton’s exterior is inspired by the larger Patrol SUV, and its cabin features a three-tone dashboard.
Nissan 7-seat SUV launch schedule
Yet-to-be-named 7-seater will “not just be an extension of the Tekton”.
Nissan India has also confirmed that its 7-seat SUV will arrive in 2027, and interestingly, despite being based on the same CMF-B platform as the Tekton, it will be a very different product. Speaking to Autocar India at the sidelines of the Nissan Gravite’s name reveal, Nissan India’s managing director, Saurabh Vatsa, said, “The 7-seater will be completely different – not just an extension of the Tekton.”
Do note that the Duster and its 7-seat derivative, likely to be the Boreal or the Bigster, share the same CMF-B platform as Nissan’s SUVs. These two Renault models will likely be significantly differentiated in terms of design, and so will the Nissan SUVs.
This means that, unlike Tata’s Harrier and Safari – the latter is nearly identical to the former save for a few design changes and an extended rear overhang to accommodate the third row of seats – the Tekton and its 7-seat derivative will be more differentiated. These models will likely be more akin to Hyundai’s Creta and Alcazar, where the latter features a longer wheelbase, among other minor design and mechanical changes.
Nissan India expansion plans
Targets 250 dealerships in India by the time the 7-seat SUV launches.
Besides expanding its product range, Nissan India plans to increase its footprint in the country. The brand currently has around 150 showrooms here and has plans to have 200 dealerships before the Tekton launches. Nissan says that number will rise to 250 by the time it announces prices for the 7-seat SUV that is the Renault Boreal/Bigster’s badge-engineered twin, and by then, the company also plans to increase its sales and service personnel from 800 now to 3,000.
