Tata Motors is gearing up for the new Sierra car launch, set to take place on November 25. Technical specifications are still under wraps, but last week’s reveal of the production-spec 2025 Sierra gave us a close look at the Tata SUV’s exterior and interior. Read on to learn more about the latest Tata Sierra, from expected pricing to key features.
1. What is the expected new Tata Sierra price?
Could start at Rs 11 lakh

The Tata Sierra car price range is likely to be between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom. For reference, the Tata Curvv, which will slot below the Sierra, is priced from Rs 9.66 lakh to Rs 18.85 lakh. The Tata Harrier, positioned above the Sierra, ranges from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 25.25 lakh.
2. How many engine options will the new Tata Sierra offer?
1.5L direct injection turbo and NA petrol, diesel

Tata’s new 1.5L TGDI engine.
Three 1.5-litre engine choices will be offered with the Sierra, including an all-new direct-injection turbo unit and its naturally aspirated derivative, as well as a diesel. The turbo-petrol engine debuting on the Sierra is expected to produce around 170hp, which will make it the most powerful not only in this set but also in the midsize SUV segment, followed by the NA engine, which could produce 120hp. Sierra diesel is likely to carry over the 118hp unit from the Curvv. Notably, Tata is evaluating CNG and hybrid options for models over 4 metres, and the Sierra (expected to measure about 4.3 metres) might add these powertrains in the future.
3. Which cars will the new Tata Sierra rival?
Midsize SUVs like Creta, Grand Vitara, Elevate, and more
After the Curvv, the 2025 Sierra is Tata’s second attempt at the midsize SUV segment. Upon launch, the Sierra will take on the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos and Honda Elevate. The Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and Citroen Aircross X are also among rivals, with the Basalt being a coupe-SUV alternative.
4. How different is the 2025 Tata Sierra exterior from the old model?
Bigger wheels, split headlamp setup
The first-generation Sierra’s most distinguishing design feature was its massive, curved-over rear glass area, but due to modern safety requirements, replicating that is not possible. To create a similar visual effect, Tata has finished the area above the rear window and quarter glass on both sides in a contrasting black finish, which blends neatly with the roof rails above. A high-set bonnet and squarish wheel arches are a nod to the original SUV, just like the thick B-pillar and a kink in the window line.

The new Sierra’s windscreen is relatively much more sharply raked, and both front and rear overhangs are shorter. Even the tyre size has gone up by 4 inches to 19 inches, and alloy wheels have been added. Also new is the split LED headlamp setup with a full-width LED light bar on top, replacing the old model’s plain, rectangular halogen units. A similar light bar has also made its way to the rear, along with sleeker taillights.
5. Compared to first-gen Tata Sierra, what new features will the 2025 SUV offer?
Triple-screen setup, panoramic sunroof
2025 Tata Sierra vs old Tata Sierra interior
Apart from the four-spoke design for the steering wheel, the 2025 Sierra’s interior is a big step away from the old SUV. A segment-first triple-screen setup – one for instrumentation and two for entertainment – replaces analogue dials, along with some buttons and knobs, but it’s good to see that Tata has provided physical toggles for climate control. The new Sierra will be the second midsize SUV to come with Dolby Atmos after the Maruti Victoris, and it will also be equipped with plenty of new features, such as a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera setup and a wireless phone charger.
