Maserati has unveiled two special one-offs of the GranCabrio and the GranTurismo, respectively. Called the GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica and the GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica, these one-off special editions mark the return of production of both models to Maserati’s HQ in Modena, where all previous generations of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio have been produced. Until now, this generation of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio has been produced at the Mirafiori plant in Turin.
- GranTurismo, GranCabrio now being produced on the same line as McPura
- New Meccanica Lirica optional package to be made available for regular models, too
The GranTurismo and GranCabrio, including the all-electric Folgore versions, will now be produced on the same line as the McPura and McPura Cielo at the Modena factory. The relocation took just 45 days, says Maserati. Given their connection with the city of Modena, these one-offs have been inspired from the world of theatre and opera music, both of which are also among the cultural heritages of the city.
Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica exterior updates

The most striking highlight on both cars is a bespoke exterior paint finish – Rosso Velluto for the GranTurismo and Oro Lirico for the GranCabrio. Created through a process of pigment layering, both these colours change their hue depending on how light interacts with the surface of the car.
Both models also ride on bespoke 21-inch wheels finished in black and matte white gold. The matte white gold treatment also extends to the badges on the GranTurismo, while on the GranCabrio, they are finished in matte Rosso Velluto to create a contrasting look. All trident logos (on the grille and fenders) also get a gold finish, and there’s a “Creata a Modena” badge on the driver-side door panel.

On the inside, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica models come draped in a mix of leather and Alcantara upholstery. Maserati has used burgundy leather for the dashboard and door panels, while the seats get a nude Alcantara finish. There are also several gold accents peppered around the cabin, and specifically on the Sonus faber speaker grilles, to highlight the model’s tribute and connection to opera music.
Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica powertrain

The Meccanica Lirica models are based on the top-spec Trofeo versions of both the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. So, it continues to be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine producing 550hp and 650Nm of torque, and comes coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. There are no mechanical changes on these one-offs, but Maserati has reworked the exhaust system to give them a more evocative sound. It gets a new design finished in gold and new software calibration to allow more refined valve management and different tones depending on the driving mode.
While these updates are limited to the one-offs, Maserati has also introduced a new Meccanica Lirica package by way of which customers can opt for some of these exclusive details on the regular GranTurismo and GranCabrio models. It will be available upon request, although the elements of the package cannot be chosen individually.
