
1. Nissan Magnite (2025)
The made-in-India Nissan Magnite has achieved a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for adult occupant protection under the latest testing protocols. In terms of child occupant protection, the Magnite scored a 3-star safety rating. The 2025 Nissan Magnite offers 6 airbags and electronic stability control as standard. Other safety features include 360-degree surround view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The 2025 Magnite is available with 3 engine options – a 1L normal petrol,1L turbo petrol and 1L CNG. However, only 3 variants equipped with the normal petrol engine and 1 variant equipped with the CNG engine fall under the Rs. 7 lakh price barrier:

2. Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Launched in November 2024, the 4th-gen Dzire is the latest addition to this list of safest cars under Rs. 8 lakh. The new Dzire was tested by the Global NCAP just days ahead of its launch. It secured a 5-star safety rating for adults and a 4 star safety rating for child occupant protection, making the 2025 Dzire the first Maruti Suzuki to achieve a 5-star rating from Global NCAP.
The new Dzire 2025 is priced from Rs. 6.84 lakh to Rs. 10.19 lakh. However, only the base LXI petrol-manual variant fits under the Rs. 7 lakh price barrier, with an ex-showroom price of Rs. 6.84 lakh. However, even the Dzire base variant gets safety features such as 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers, ISOFIX seats for the outboard rear seats, and front setbelts with pretensioner and load limiters.

3. Tata Punch
The Tata Punch is another safe choice if you are looking for a car priced under Rs. 7 lakh. It’s worth noting that Tata’s small SUV was tested under Global NCAP’s older testing protocol. It secured a score of 16.44 out of 17 for adult safety and 40.89 out of 49 for child safety. Tallied up, the final star rating of the Punch stands at 5 stars for the adult and 4 for child safety.
Tata currently offer the Punch with a petrol-manual, petrol-automatic and CNG-manual powertrain options. However, only 2 petrol-manual variants – Pure and Pure (O) – are priced under Rs. 7.0 lakh (ex-showroom).

4. Tata Altroz
Like the Punch, the Tata Altroz too was tested under Global NCAP’s old test protocol. It secured 16.13 out of 17 points in adult safety for a star rating of 5. Its child safety score stands at 29 out of 49 and a rating of 3 stars. Overall, the final star rating of the Altroz stands at 5 stars for the adult and 3 for child safety. The Tata Altroz facelift is yet to be tested by either Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP.
Tata currently offer Altroz with a petrol-manual, petrol-automatic, turbo petrol-manual, diesel-manual and CNG-manual powertrain options. Only 1 the base variant: Smart petrol-manual – costs less than Rs. 7.0 lakh (ex-showroom).

5. Tata Tiago
Tested under Global NCAP’s older crash test protocol, the Tiago scored an adult safety score of 12.52 out of 17 and a child safety score of 34.15 out of 49. The final star rating for this car stands at 4 for adults and 3 for child safety.
The Tata Tiago is available with a petrol-manual, petrol-automatic, CNG-manual, CNG-automatic and electric powertrain options. However, only 6 petrol-manual, 1 petrol-automatic and 2 CNG-manual variants cost under Rs. 7.0 lakh (ex-showroom).

6. Tata Tigor
Just like the Tiago, the Tata Tigor also secured an identical scores of 12.52/17 and 34.15/49 for adult and child safety, respectively. For simplicity, GNCAP gave it an adult rating of 4 stars and child safety rating of 3 stars. It has the same powertrain options as the Tiago hatchback but only 6 petrol-manual, 1 petrol-automatic, and 2 CNG-manual variants cost less than Rs. 7.0 lakh.

7. Renault Triber
The Renault Triber is not only the biggest car in this list but also the only one capable of accommodating up to 7 passengers. It received 11.62 and 27 points for adult and child safety out of 17 and 49 points, respectively. The adult and child safety rating for the Triber stand at 4 and 2 stars, respectively.

8. Renault Kiger
The Renault Kiger scored 12.34 out of 17 in adult safety and 21.05 out of 49 in child safety in the GNCAP crash tests. The final rating of the Kiger is 4 stars for adult safety and 2 for child safety.
Only the base RXE and RXL petrol-manual variants are priced under the Rs. 7 lakh barrier to qualify for this list.
