Just over six months since its India debut at the Auto Expo 2025, the MG M9 has finally gone on sale. The M9 is the fourth all-electric offering from MG in the Indian market, and more notably, the very first electric luxury MPV to land on our shores. If you’re considering buying the M9, we’ve laid out five aspects of the MPV that are worth your attention.
What is the MG M9 price in India?
Just shy of Rs 70 lakh.
The M9 price starts at Rs 69.9 lakh (ex-showroom) for its sole fully loaded trim, and the MPV is sold exclusively via the MG Select premium retail network. Bookings for the M9 are being accepted for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh, and deliveries are set to commence from August 10. At this price point, the M9 is positioned between the Kia Carnival and the Toyota Vellfire, leaning towards the more affordable side of the luxury MPV segment.

What features does the MG M9 offer?

In terms of creature comforts, the M9 is equipped with a 12.23-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a digital IRVM, cabin air filter, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charger, a 13-speaker JBL sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, leather and suede upholstery, powered front and rear seats with heating, massage and ventilation, connected car tech, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) functionality, and more.

When it comes to safety, the M9 leaves no stone unturned, offering 7 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, front and rear disc brakes, an electronic stability program (ESP), a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and more. It also holds 5-star scores in both Euro NCAP and Australian NCAP crash safety tests.
How is the rear seat comfort of the MG M9?

The second-row experience is the highlight of the M9. On the other side of the M9’s electric sliding doors are a pair of plush and reclinable captain’s chairs that can deploy ottomans to let occupants stretch fully. There’s also a powered boss mode that automatically slides the front passenger seat forward to open up more legroom in the back.
Moreover, the middle row gets 16-way electrical adjustment, and heating, cooling and massaging functions. Rear entertainment touchscreens, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof make the M9’s second row an even nicer place to be.
What is the MG M9 range?
Up to 548km of claimed range.
The M9 gets a 90kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack with a single front-mounted electric motor, putting out 245hp and 350Nm. This powertrain yields an MIDC-certified range of 548km. As for charging, a 160kW DC fast charger can top up the M9’s battery from 0-100 percent in 90 minutes, while a 11kW AC charger does the same in 10 hours.
Should you buy the MG M9 over a Kia Carnival?
M9 is larger than the Carnival.
While the M9 is Rs 6 lakh more expensive than the Carnival, it’s worth noting that the MG MPV is dimensionally larger than the Kia in every way. Moreover, the M9’s second row captain’s chairs get a massage function, which is absent in the Carnival’s seats. The Carnival’s torquier diesel engine makes it more suitable for highway runs, but if you drive mostly within urban confines, the M9’s all-electric powertrain may be the more economical choice.
