The world’s first mass-produced CNG bike comes from Bajaj in the form of the Freedom. The Freedom can be run on both petrol and CNG and switching between the two fuels can be done by a simple press of a button while riding. The Freedom is powered by a horizontally-mounted 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine making 9.5hp at 8,000rpm and 9.7Nm at 6,000rpm. It isn’t as power-dense as other 125cc petrol commuter bikes but the focus here is to maximise efficiency. It has a 2 litre auxiliary petrol tank and a 2kg CNG tank under the seat. The Freedom is available in three variants and seven colour options.
