Both SUVs share the same 1.5-litre diesel engine, albeit the Sierra’s diesel is paired to a torque converter while the Curvv gets it with a DCT gearbox. Also, both feature the Hyperion series of turbo-petrol engines, but the Sierra’s unit delivers substantially more power and torque figures on account of higher displacement. While all the engine configurations of the Curvv and Sierra can be paired with either manual or automatic gearboxes, the Sierra’s turbo petrol is sold only with an automatic transmission. Sierra is the one to go for
For most buyers, the Sierra Adventure+ trim is the better choice of the two. Not only does it offer a more accessible price point, thanks to its additional engine option, but it is also more affordable considering all powertrain configurations. Moreover, it has the most spacious rear seat in its class, an aspect that the Curvv doesn’t do well at. While the Curvv clearly has an edge in terms of the equipment list, the Sierra’s Adventure+ trim still gets most features, without a large compromise. Furthermore, the Sierra’s mid trim offers an additional engine option and much more power in turbo-petrol guise.
