Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch a new midsize SUV on September 3, 2025, to be sold via Arena showrooms. Codenamed the Y17, the 5-seater SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos and have a relatively aggressive price range.
- Y17 could borrow CNG and mild and strong hybrid powertrains from Vitara
- May also carry over 9-inch touchscreen, wireless connectivity features
- It is going to be a 5 seater SUV and not a 7 seater
New Maruti Arena SUV price expectations
May start at Rs 10.50 lakh
In the brand’s SUV line-up, the Y17 will be positioned below the Grand Vitara, which is priced from Rs 11.42 lakh to Rs 20.68 lakh, and will be sold via its premium Nexa outlets. The SUV’s prices are likely to range between Rs 10.50 lakh and Rs 16 lakh. For reference, the Creta price bracket is from Rs 11.11 lakh to Rs 20.50 lakh, while the Seltos costs between Rs 11.19 lakh and Rs 20.56 lakh.

Compared to the Maruti Grand Vitara, previously spotted camo-clad Y17 test mules have hinted at redesigned front and rear profiles; lighting elements look inspired by the e Vitara. A refreshed alloy wheel design is anticipated, too. Note that this Arena SUV will seat a maximum of 5 people, contrary to the earlier reports of it being the 7-seater Grand Vitara.
Going by the spy shot seen above, Maruti may carry over much of the dashboard and other interior features unchanged from the Grand Vitara. It could, thus, be fitted with goodies like a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a wireless charger, ambient lights, automatic AC, and more.
New Maruti Arena SUV platform
Global C base
Like the Maruti Grand Vitara, the Y17 will be built on the Global C platform. Sources have previously indicated to us that production will take place at Maruti’s latest plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana. Exports could also be on the cards.
New Maruti Arena SUV engine and gearbox options
1.5-litre hybrid, mild-hybrid and CNG options likely
Since the Y17 is underpinned by the modular Global C base, it could borrow the Vitara’s 88hp 1.5-litre CNG, 103hp mild hybrid and 116hp hybrid options, along with their respective gearbox pairings. A badge-engineered Toyota derivative might be introduced later.
Note: Above-mentioned Seltos, Creta and Grand Vitara price ranges are ex-showroom, Mumbai.
