Lexus has debuted a new concept car dubbed the Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week 2025. The Sport Concept is pegged as a precursor to a “next-generation sports car” – essentially the upcoming spiritual successor to the Lexus LFA.

Striking and sharp styling.
The Sport Concept features rakish, low-slung proportions that don’t look too far off from a production-spec model, which isn’t surprising considering the LFA successor is expected to launch by the end of 2026. Many of its design cues even bear a resemblance to the Toyota GT Concept – widely believed to be a prototype of the LFA successor – shown off at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025.

Up front, the Sport Concept gets two vertically oriented air intakes, which integrate sharp L-shaped LED lights and smaller DRL units. There’s a large trapezoidal air dam in the centre of the bumper, and the bonnet sports two angular ducts.

Over to the side, you can see lots of cuts and creases in the Sport Concept’s bodywork, most notably the air ducts behind the front fenders connecting directly to the C-pillar intakes. Additionally, the roof is blacked out, the outside rearview mirror units are cameras, and blue brake calipers peek out from behind the large black-and-silver alloy wheels.
Rear end features active spoiler and has no visible exhaust setup.

The gently sloping roofline leads into the striking rear of the Sport Concept, where a large LED light bar and massive layered diffuser take centre stage. An active wing sits atop the Sport Concept’s rear end, and it’s worth noting that there are no visible exhaust pipes, possibly hinting at an all-electric powertrain.

Lexus remains tight-lipped, but the Sport Concept is likely an EV.
Though the Lexus LFA successor is expected to use a twin-turbo V8 hybrid setup, the Sport Concept appears to be a pure EV due to the aforementioned lack of an exhaust setup. A promotional video released by Lexus also shows the Sport Concept in motion with no discernible engine or exhaust sound.

It could well be that the Sport Concept is simply a design preview for the LFA successor and doesn’t indicate that the sports car will be an EV.
