After a two-decade hiatus, Tata Motors has revived the ‘Sierra’ nameplate. The all-new Sierra will be placed below the Harrier but above the Curvv in the automaker’s line-up. The midsize SUV boasts a boxy and muscular exterior with subtle design elements popularised by the old Sierra. Its minimalistic interior looks stylish and premium while also integrating modern features.

The base engine for the new Tata Sierra is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol mill with 106hp and 145Nm. It is available with 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions. Then, there is the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with direct injection, making 160hp and 255Nm, offered solely with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The new Sierra also comes with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which develops 118hp. The maximum torque output of this mill is 280Nm when mated to the 6-speed AT, dropping to 260Nm when paired with the 6-speed MT. For the time being, the Tata Sierra is only available with front-wheel drive.

While we currently do not have the official prices for all the Sierra variants, it is clear that the entry-level Smart+ packs a decent set of features. However, while its introductory price of Rs 11.49 lakh looks like great value, this variant appears to be missing an infotainment system. We will update this article with the prices and other necessary details as and when we get our hands on them.
