
With growing focus among car buyers on vehicle safety, many carmakers have introduced 6 airbags on entry-level models and added more standard safety features across their model lines. As of today, there are 26 cars – from hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs and MPVs – with variants priced under Rs 10 lakh that come with 6 airbags.
26. Tata Punch EV
Starting price: Rs 9.99 lakh
With a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh for its base Smart trim, the Punch EV just about makes it to this list. But what’s notable here is that 6 airbags are standard right from the base variant, and it’s also the only EV on this list, currently making it the most affordable electric vehicle with 6 airbags in the country. The Tata Punch EV Long Range variants make 122hp and 190Nm from a front axle-mounted electric motor, while the regular variants get an 82hp, 114Nm motor. It has an ARAI-claimed range of up to 365km. Punch EV prices currently range between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.44 lakh. The Punch EV also has a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP.
25. Kia Syros
Starting price: Rs 9.50 lakh

The Kia Syros is available with 6 airbags across the range, but only its base HTK variant with the petrol engine and manual gearbox makes it to this list. The SUV shares its 120hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 116hp 1.5-litre diesel engines with its compact SUV sibling, the Sonet. The Kia Syros’ price starts at Rs 9.5 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.80 lakh for the top-spec variant with a Level 2 ADAS suite. The Syros also has a 5-star BNCAP safety rating.
24. Maruti Fronx
Starting price: Rs 8.96 lakh

The Maruti Fronx gets 6 airbags from the higher-spec Delta+(O) trim onwards, with lower variants making do with just 2 airbags. While the Delta+(O) and lower trims are powered by a 90hp 1.2-litre petrol engine that comes with manual and AMT options, the Delta+, Zeta and Alpha trims have a 100hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill with manual and torque converter auto options; the higher two trims fall outside the price bracket for this list.
23. Maruti Suzuki Brezza
Starting price: Rs 8.69 lakh

The Maruti Brezza is available with 6 airbags as standard across its line-up. It rivals over 10 models in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment and is now priced between Rs 8.69 lakh and Rs 14.14 lakh. The Brezza is on sale in 10 variants – of which just 3 fall under the Rs 10 lakh budget – and is powered by a 100hp 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes with manual and automatic transmission options. As is always the case with Maruti models, the Brezza has a CNG powertrain option as well, priced from Rs 9.64 lakh.
22. Citroen Aircross
Starting price: Rs 8.62 lakh

The Citroen Aircross is a unique 5+2 seat SUV (7 seats available only in select higher-spec variants), and like its brethren based on the same platform – the Basalt and C3 – the Aircross also comes with 6 airbags as standard. The SUV is priced between Rs 8.62 lakh and Rs 14.60 lakh, though only the two entry-level variants qualify for this list. It shares its 84hp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 110hp turbocharged petrol engines with its siblings, along with the same manual and automatic gearbox options. The Aircross is also available in Dark Edition variants.
21. Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Starting price: Rs 8.47 lakh

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets dual-front airbags as standard, with 6 airbags available from the Zeta variant onwards. Prices for the Baleno with 6 airbags range from Rs 8.47 lakh to Rs 9.92 lakh. The premium hatch gets a 1.2-litre engine making 90hp and 113Nm, an AMT auto option and a CNG option, and rivals the Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20.
20. Citroen Basalt
Starting price: Rs 8.32 lakh

The Citroen Basalt coupe-SUV offers 6 airbags, ESP, hill-hold assist and a tyre pressure monitor across its line-up. It rivals the Tata Curvv and gets two petrol powertrains: an 82hp 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 110hp 1.2-litre turbo mill that can be had with a manual or an automatic transmission. The Basalt range is priced from Rs 8.32 lakh onwards and goes up to Rs 14.10 lakh, though just the entry-level You and Plus variants find a place on this list.
19. Skoda Kylaq
Starting price: Rs 8.25 lakh
The Kylaq is the most affordable Skoda in India and comes equipped with 6 airbags as standard. It also has ESC, traction control, 3-point seat belts, adjustable head restraints for all seats and ISOFIX child seat mounts for the rear seats on all trims. Notably, the Skoda Kylaq has received a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. It shares the 115hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with its siblings, the Kushaq and Slavia. The Kylaq’s prices start at Rs 8.25 lakh, with the top-spec automatic costing Rs 13.99 lakh.
18. Honda Amaze
Starting price: Rs 8.10 lakh

Along with having 6 airbags as standard, the most notable safety feature on the new Honda Amaze is a segment-only Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite on the top trim, though that one doesn’t fall under the Rs 10 lakh budget. The camera-based ADAS feature pack includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitor, and more. The Honda Amaze comes with a 90hp 1.2-litre petrol engine with manual and CVT options, and the compact sedan’s price ranges from Rs 8.10 lakh to Rs 11.20 lakh.
17. Tata Nexon
Starting price: Rs 8.00 lakh

Like many others in the compact SUV segment, the Tata Nexon gets 6 airbags as standard across the range. The rival to XUV 3XO, Venue, Sonet and Brezza is priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 15.60 lakh and is available with 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (120hp) and 1.5-litre diesel (115hp) engine options. The petrol mill comes with a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, an AMT and a dual-clutch auto option, while the diesel has a 6-speed manual and an AMT option. A CNG version is also on sale.
16. Kia Sonet
Starting price: Rs 8.00 lakh

Much like its cousin, the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet also offers 6 airbags across all variants. Prices range between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 15.74 lakh. Other standard safety features on Kia’s first compact SUV include ESC, VSM, hill-start assist control, emergency stop signal and TPMS. The Sonet and Venue also share the same three engine options – 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol, 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel – offered with manual, iMT and automatic gearboxes.
15. Mahindra XUV 3XO
Starting price: Rs 7.99 lakh

All variants of the Mahindra XUV 3XO get 6 airbags as standard, with prices starting from Rs 7.99 lakh and going up to Rs 15.80 lakh. It is available with a 111hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 131hp 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol unit and a 117hp, 1.5-litre diesel option. This compact SUV received a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating in November 2024. Other standard safety features include ESC, adjustable headrests for the second row and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. The top AX7 L trim also gets a Level 2 ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera with a blind-spot monitor.
14. Hyundai Venue
Starting price: Rs 7.94 lakh

Like the rest of Hyundai’s models, the Hyundai Venue gets 6 airbags, which are standard across trims. The compact SUV comes with three engine options: an 83hp 1.2-litre petrol, a 120hp 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel. Prices for the Tata Nexon rival, including the Venue N Line, range between Rs 7.94 lakh and Rs 13.97 lakh. Other standard safety features include ESC, VSM, hill-assist control and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers.
13. Hyundai i20
Starting price: Rs 7.51 lakh

Hyundai’s premium hatchback, the i20, gets 6 airbags as standard. It packs an 83hp, 115Nm, 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT (88hp with the CVT). Hyundai’s answer to the Toyota Glanza and Maruti Baleno is currently priced from Rs 7.51 lakh to Rs 11.25 lakh. The sportier i20 N Line, which is priced from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 12.56 lakh and gets 6 airbags, also just about makes it to this list.
12. Toyota Glanza
Starting price: Rs 6.90 lakh
Unlike Maruti, which offers 6 airbags only on the top two trims of the Baleno, Toyota offers 6 airbags as standard across the entire Glanza range. The rest of the equipment list and powertrain options, however, remain unchanged from the Baleno. With prices ranging between Rs 6.90 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh, the Glanza’s entire range with 6 airbags falls under the bracket of Rs 10 lakh, giving it a much higher ranking on this list than the Baleno.
11. Maruti Dzire
Starting price: Rs 6.84 lakh

Apart from 6 airbags as standard, the Dzire also impresses with a segment-only 5-star safety rating in the GNCAP crash tests. It was the first Maruti model to secure the top score. For reference, the previous third-generation Dzire was awarded 2 stars by GNCAP. The Dzire is powered by a frugal 82hp 1.2-litre Z Series engine shared with the Swift, as are the gearbox and CNG powertrain options. The Maruti Dzire price range starts at Rs 6.84 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.19 lakh.
10. Hyundai Aura
Starting price: Rs 6.54 lakh
The Hyundai Aura gets 6 airbags as standard, along with 3-point seatbelts and reminders for all three seats. ESC and hill-hold assist, however, are only offered on the higher trims. The Aura draws power from the same 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine as the Exter, i20 and Grand i10 Nios and is available with a 5-speed MT or an optional 5-speed AMT. It is also available with a CNG powertrain option. Prices for the Aura go up to Rs 9.11 lakh.
9. Maruti Suzuki Swift
Starting price: Rs 6.49 lakh

The fourth-gen Maruti Swift gets 6 airbags as standard across its range. Sharing its powertrain options with the Dzire, the Swift is powered by the 82hp, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z series engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT and boasts a class-leading efficiency of up to 25.75kpl. Also available in CNG form, the Swift is currently priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.50 lakh. ESP and hill-hold assist are also standard safety features on the Swift, just as they are on the Dzire.
8. Citroen C3
Starting price: Rs 6.23 lakh

The Citroen rival to the Maruti Ignis and Tata Punch was updated with 6 airbags across the range in August 2024. However, features like ESC and hill-hold control are only offered on the higher-spec trims. Priced between Rs 6.23 lakh and Rs 10.19 lakh, the Citroen C3 comes with an 82hp 1.2-litre petrol or a 110hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, with the latter getting a 6-speed torque converter automatic option.
7. Nissan Magnite
Starting price: Rs 6.14 lakh

At Rs 6.14 lakh, the Nissan Magnite is among the most affordable SUVs on this list. It received a facelift late last year and boasts 6 airbags, 3-point seat belts for all passengers, ISOFIX anchors, traction control, TPMS and hill-start assist as standard equipment. It is powered by a 72hp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 100hp, turbocharged version of the same unit; the former gets an AMT while the latter is offered with a CVT. The Magnite is also available with a dealer-level CNG kit, and prices go up to Rs 11.76 lakh.
6. Hyundai Exter
Starting price: Rs 6.00 lakh

The Hyundai Exter starts at Rs 6 lakh and is the most affordable SUV in India with 6 airbags, which are standard across all trims. Hyundai offers the SUV with an 83hp, 114Nm, 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. A factory-fitted CNG kit is also available with the Exter. However, features like ESC and hill-hold assist are optional extras on the base EX trim for an Rs 56,000; these become standard from the second-from-base S Executive trim. Prices for the Exter go up to Rs 9.25 lakh.
5. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios
Starting price: Rs 5.98 lakh

With prices ranging between Rs 5.98 lakh and Rs 8.38 lakh, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is among the most affordable cars in India to be offered with 6 airbags. It also gets 3-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats. The Nios is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 83hp and 114Nm and is mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. A CNG version with a dual-cylinder tank is also on offer. ESC and hill-start assist are offered on all automatic variants, and as standard from the mid-spec Sportz trim.
4. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
Starting at Rs 5.79 lakh

One of Maruti’s bread and butter models, the Wagon R is available with 6 airbags as well as ESC as standard across the range. Priced between Rs 5.79 lakh and Rs 7.50 lakh, the Wagon R comes with two petrol engine options – 69hp, 1.0-litre unit and 91hp, 1.2-litre unit – that’s offered with manual and AMT gearbox options. Like the rest of Maruti’s models, a CNG version is also on sale.
3. Maruti Suzuki Celerio
Starting price: Rs 5.64 lakh

India’s most fuel-efficient petrol car, the Maruti Celerio, is also the third most affordable model on sale with 6 airbags across the range; it also gets ESC as standard. The Celerio is currently priced between Rs 5.64 lakh and Rs 7.37 lakh. The Tata Tiago rival is powered by a 1.0-litre engine that makes 67hp and 89Nm on petrol and 57hp and 82.1Nm on CNG. The petrol version gets an AMT option.
2. Maruti Suzuki Eeco
Starting at Rs 5.69 lakh

The Maruti Eeco is the only van on this list. It is one of the most bare-bones vehicles available in the market, but Maruti has still gone the length to equip it with six airbags as standard, along with ESC and seatbelt, with reminders even for the rear passengers. The people-mover is also available in 5- and 6-seat variants and is powered by an 80hp 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Eeco CNG gets the same engine in a 70hp state of tune, though it is only available in a 5-seat configuration.
1. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10
Starting at Rs 4.23 lakh

At just Rs 4.23 lakh, the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is currently the most affordable car in the country to come equipped with six airbags as standard. The Alto’s direct rival, the Renault Kwid, despite being more expensive, only offers 2 airbags even on its top-end trim. The Alto is powered by a 67hp 1.0-litre petrol engine and comes with manual and AMT options. A factory-fitted CNG version is also available.
