
Honda Cars India has slashed the price of its City e:HEV hybrid by nearly Rs 1 lakh. Exclusively sold in one fully-loaded ZX variant, the Honda City hybrid is now priced at Rs 19.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The Honda City e:HEV has the distinction of being the only hybrid in the midsize sedan segment.

The Japanese carmaker has equipped the City hybrid with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine running the fuel-efficient Atkinson cycle. Paired to the petrol block are a traction motor that draws juice from a lithium-ion battery to drive the wheels, and a motor-generator that recharges the Li-ion unit using the combustion block. An eCVT sends this petrol-hybrid system’s combined output of 126hp, 253Nm to the front wheels only. Coming to the main highlight of hybrids, which is fuel efficiency, the City e:HEV has an ARAI-rated figure of 27.26kpl.

8-inch touchscreen, sunroof, ADAS
On the outside, the City hybrid sports all LED headlights, DRLs, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a sunroof. For creature comforts, it offers an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, wireless charger, and an 8-speaker setup.
The City hybrid is a 5-star rated ASEAN NCAP sedan, and packs safety features like ADAS, six airbags, ABS, ESC, EPB, traction control and ISOFIX child seat mounts. There’s also a lane watch camera that relays feeds from the left ORVM of blind spots onto the infotainment screen.
