The Kushaq has been on sale since 2021, and the Slavia followed in 2022. Both vehicles are due for their mid-life updates, and Skoda is getting ready to give them a fresh look and more features.
What To Expect From Slavia And Facelifts?
The upcoming facelifts for the Slavia and Kushaq are expected to be quite comprehensive, bringing notable changes both inside and out.
- Exterior Overhaul: Expect a significantly redesigned exterior for both cars. They are likely to adopt elements from Skoda’s new “Modern Solid” design language, which was first seen on the Skoda Kylaq. This means refreshed front and rear designs with sleeker LED lighting elements and new alloy wheel designs. New color options are also expected.
- Interior Redesign: The cabins of the Slavia and Kushaq could also see a big overhaul. We might see an updated dashboard design and fresh colour schemes to give the interiors a more modern feel.
- Feature Additions: As part of this major update, new features are definitely on the cards for these already well-equipped cars. Possible additions include:
- A larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display (up from the current 8-inch).
- A 360-degree camera for easier parking and manoeuvring.
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite
The updates, especially to the feature list, will be crucial. For example, the smaller Skoda Kylaq already offers many features that its larger sibling, the Kushaq, has. The facelifts should help create clearer differences between the models.
Engines Likely To Remain Unchanged
Despite the extensive updates to design and features, both the Skoda Slavia and Kushaq are expected to continue with their current engine options. These include a 1L turbo petrol with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic and a larger 1.5L turbo petrol engine with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission (DCT).
Here are the current powertrain specs of the Slavia and Kushaq:

Expected Launch Timeline
While Ashish Gupta only mentioned “soon,” Skoda have already laid out its plans for 2025, which only includes the launch of the Octavia vRS. Therefore, the Slavia and Kushaq facelifts are expected to hit the roads sometime in 2026. We expect the Kushaq facelift to launch first, followed by the refreshed Slavia.
The Skoda Slavia currently competes with sedans like the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Hyundai Verna. The Skoda Kushaq, on the other hand, faces competition from SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate.
With these comprehensive facelifts, Skoda aim to inject new life into these models, which played a big role in the success of the MQB A0 IN platform in India. The updates are expected to help boost sales and ensure they remain competitive in their respective segments.
