The Volvo EX30 electric SUV is set to launch in September as the Swedish carmaker’s new entry-level model. As the first ground-up EV from Volvo, the EX30 will offer a unique design, smooth powertrain, sustainably made interior and the brand’s famed promise of safety. Ahead of the EX30’s launch, let’s take a look at six key highlights of the entry-level luxury EV.

The 2025 EX30 price in India is expected to land at around Rs 50 lakh, which would put it precisely in line with other entry-level luxury EVs. Volvo will commence deliveries of the EX30 from October 2025.
Which cars will the 2025 Volvo EX30 rival?
Rivals include models from BMW, Kia, BYD, Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz.
In terms of competitors, the EX30 will go up against the BMW iX1 LWB (Rs 49.90 lakh), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (Rs 46.30 lakh), Kia EV6 (Rs 65.97 lakh), BYD Sealion 7 (Rs 48.90-54.90 lakh) and Mercedes-Benz EQA (Rs 67.20 lakh).
Which powertrains will the 2025 Volvo EX30 offer?
69kWh, rear-wheel-drive setup.
At launch, the EX30 will be offered only with the 69kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack that’s wired up to a rear-mounted electric motor, developing 272hp and 343Nm. You get an 8-year warranty for this powertrain. Globally, Volvo also offers a smaller 51kWh LFP battery pack with the EX30, but it won’t be available in India for the time being.
What is the 2025 Volvo EX30 range?
Up to 480km (claimed).
Volvo claims a 480km range for the EX30 69kWh, as certified by the global WLTP cycle. The ARAI-tested range figures are yet to be released, but in our review of the EX30, we noted a real-world range of around 350km. Given that the EX30 is primarily designed for city use, the estimated real-world range is more than ample.
EX30 can be charged at up to 150kW.
As for charging, the EX30’s battery can be topped up from 0 to 100 percent in 10 hours and 30 minutes when using a 7.4kW charger, in 7 hours with an 11kW AC charger and in merely 25 minutes with a 150kW DC charger.
How is the driving experience of the 2025 Volvo EX30?
Feels sedate and calm to drive.
The EX30 can hit 0-100kph in a claimed 5.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 180kph. However, the EX30’s power delivery is linear and gentle, so the crossover feels more relaxing than exciting to drive. There aren’t any drive modes to fettle the powertrain’s responses, but the EX30 does get a one-pedal mode to aid drivability in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Ride is on the firmer side but comfortable regardless.
Similarly, the EX30’s ride quality is geared towards comfort rather than enthusiasm. There’s a bit of firmness in the suspension due to the battery’s weight, but the well-tuned damping doesn’t let any harsh thuds into the cabin at low speed and keeps things calm. The EX30 exhibits minimal body roll in the bends thanks to the aforementioned firmness, but the handling is best described as neutral since there isn’t much feedback from the steering wheel.
Which features does the 2025 Volvo EX30 offer?
12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen controls everything.
In keeping with the sustainability theme, the EX30 is mostly built with recycled materials instead of leather. The bright dashboard is dominated by a 12.3-inch vertically oriented infotainment touchscreen that integrates most in-car functions, including the climate control, headlight adjustment and outside rearview mirror adjustment. There isn’t even an instrument cluster.
Also, you get wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, a Harman Kardon soundbar with tweeters and a subwoofer, a glass roof, powered driver’s seat, Level 2 ADAS, and more.
