
Volvo has launched the 2025 XC60 in India at Rs 71.90 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing a few cosmetic tweaks on the outside and more tech on the inside; mechanically, though, it remains unchanged from its predecessor. Let’s take a closer look at all that is new in the 2025 Volvo XC60.

You’d be hard pressed to tell the new XC60 from the previous one because in typical Volvo fashion, the changes are very subtle. There are just two main differences – the grille gets a new criss-cross pattern as opposed to the vertical slats seen on the previous car, and the there’s a new dual-tone design for the alloy wheels.
Volvo hasn’t made any changes to even the soft parts like the bumpers and lighting elements which is typical of facelifts. That said, the XC60 remains a handsome looking SUV. This design is now 8 years old, but it still looks like it belongs in 2025. Why fix what isn’t broken?

It is a similar story on the inside where the most notable update being a large 11.2-inch touchscreen as opposed to the 9.0-inch unit on the previous model. Since the dashboard design hasn’t changed, the screen juts out a little bit while the previous one sat flush with the dashboard. Other than that, it also gets light coloured upholstery this time and slightly different trim pieces. The keen eyed among you will also notice a slightly revised steering wheel. The dual-tone beige and dark-grey upholstery does look a lot more premium than the tan and black upholstery on the previous model.
The new screen also brings new software interface – powered by Google, it gets you access to Google Maps without having to pair your phone, and apps like Spotify are standard.

Typical of a facelift, there are no changes under the hood of the XC60. This means that it retains the 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and automatic transmission pairing. Peak outputs of 250hp and 360Nm are directed to all 4 wheels via the 8-speed torque converter unit. It also gets a 48V mild hybrid battery that supports the engine, improving fuel efficiency and acceleration. Volvo claims 12.9kpl with this powertrain but we are yet to conduct a real-world efficiency test according to Autocar India test standards.
