The Porsche 911 is one of the most illustrious sports cars in history, and it isn’t difficult to see why. Ever since its inception in 1964, the 911 has been powered by a flat-six engine that’s uniquely mounted above the rear axle and emits a sonorous note, complemented by excellent handling characteristics and genuine daily usability. When it comes to sheer driving thrills and pedigree, few cars have surpassed the 911.
In India, the 911 first debuted in its 997 generation in 2004, and Porsche launched the facelifted ‘992.2’ iteration of the current 992 generation in 2024. We recently reviewed the 992.2 911 Carrera, and now, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about the sports car.
What is the Porsche 911 price in India?
Starts at Rs 2.11 crore
The 992.2 Porsche 911 is priced at Rs 2.11 crore in India for the base Carrera trim, while the more powerful, all-wheel drive Carrera 4 GTS costs Rs 2.83 crore. Porsche also sells a 911 Turbo 50 Years variant for a whopping Rs 4.05 crore in India, although it’s worth noting that is a limited-run special edition (only 1,974 units worldwide) of the pre-facelift 992 model, so it misses out on the exterior and interior updates of the latest versions.
Which Porsche 911 models are available in India?
Two 992.2 models, one 992

As it stands, there are three Porsche 911 models on sale in India, namely the 992.2 Carrera and Carrera 4 GTS, and the 992 Turbo 50 Years. Unfortunately, the drop-top Targa and Cabrio variants of the 992.2 911 won’t make it to India due to homologation issues, but Porsche may expand the line-up in India with the track-focused 911 GT3 in the future.
Which engine options does the Porsche 911 get?
Flat-six engines all around
Every single version of the Porsche 911 is powered by a rear-mounted flat-six, albeit in different states of tune. The base 911 Carrera comes fitted with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine that produces 394hp and 450Nm, while the Carrera 4 GTS gets a 3.6-litre flat-six boosted by an electric turbocharger and a front-mounted motor for a net output of 541hp and 610Nm. Notably, the Carrera 4 GTS is the first 911 with a hybrid powertrain.
As for the 992 911 Turbo 50 Years, it’s powered by a 3.7-litre twin-turbo flat-six developing 650hp and 800Nm, making it the most powerful 911 model currently on sale in India. All three 911 powertrains are mated to 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions.
How fast is the Porsche 911?
992 Turbo 50 Years is the quickest

Performance follows a similar pecking order to the powertrain outputs of each 911 variant currently available in India. The rear-wheel drive 911 Carrera takes a claimed 4.1 seconds to dispatch the 0-100kph run, while the all-wheel drive Carrera 4 GTS hybrid achieves the same in 3 seconds dead (claimed). Despite the 992 911 Turbo 50 Years being an older model, it’s the quickest to 100kph here thanks to its 2.7sec claimed time.
Coming to top speed, the 992.2 Carrera and Carrera 4 GTS peak at 294kph and 312kph respectively, while the 992 Turbo 50 Years maxes out at 330kph.
