The popularity of SUVs is at an all-time high in the Indian car market, with most of the top-selling models falling under Rs 15 lakh. As personalisation is also important to consumers, manufacturers offer a variety of colour options for their SUVs, and black is a popular choice – so much so that some brands have bespoke “dark editions” with a blacked-out colour scheme for the exterior and interior. We compiled a list of every dark edition SUV you can buy for under Rs 15 lakh.
Nissan Magnite Kuro
Price: Rs 8.31 lakh to Rs 10.87 lakh

The newly launched Nissan Magnite Kuro is the most affordable all-black SUV you can currently buy. Based on the Magnite’s higher-spec N Connecta trim, the Kuro commands a Rs 34,000 premium over the same. For the extra cash, the Magnite Kuro packs a black exterior finish, a blacked-out treatment for the grille, front and rear skid plates, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and door handles, and a smoked finish for the headlights, which also get sequential indicators.
Inside, the Magnite Kuro sports an all-black dashboard, gear lever, steering wheel, doors and sun visors. It also adds a wireless charger and a dashcam over and above the Magnite N Connecta trim’s feature list.
Hyundai Exter Knight Edition
Price: Rs 8.46 lakh to Rs 10.51 lakh

Buyers of Hyundai’s entry-level SUV, the Exter, can opt for an all-black treatment starting from the SX Knight Edition, which costs Rs 8.46 lakh, Rs 15,000 more than the equivalent SX trim. The Exter Knight Edition offers a blacked-out finish on the exterior with ‘Knight Edition’ badging and red accents in the front bumper, brake calipers and tailgate.
The interior follows a similar theme with black upholstery, red stitching, footwell lighting, and more. The pricier Knight Edition Dual Tone SUVs come with a black roof and different colour options for the body.
Hyundai Venue Knight Edition
Price: Rs 10.34 lakh to Rs 13.57 lakh

The Hyundai Venue is the third most affordable dark edition SUV, with its S(O) Knight Edition trim coming in at Rs 10.34 lakh. Much like the Exter, the Venue Knight Edition adopts an all-black aesthetic with bright red brake calipers. However, it gets brass accents on the wheels and bumpers and a ‘Knight Edition’ badge on the boot lid.
The brass highlights are carried forward into the cabin as well – around the air-con vents and gear lever and on the steering wheel.
Tata Nexon Dark Edition
Price: Rs 11.70 lakh to Rs 15.60 lakh

Besides the Magnite Kuro, the Tata Nexon Dark Edition adheres to the all-black theme most faithfully in this list. Unlike other SUVs, the Nexon Dark Edition is completely blacked out on the outside with no secondary colour accents.
Even in the cabin, the lights-out aesthetic is maintained with a fully black dashboard, centre console, steering wheel and seat upholstery, with only the dark blue seat backs offering a slight pop of colour. The Dark Edition package is available starting from Nexon’s Creative Plus variants for an additional cost of Rs 40,000.
Citroen Basalt Dark Edition
Price: Rs 12.80 lakh to Rs 14.10 lakh

Citroen has jumped onto the blacked-out bandwagon by extending the Dark Edition treatment to three of its models, including the Basalt coupe-SUV. On the outside, the Basalt Dark Edition features a new Perla Nera finish, dark chrome trim and ‘Dark’ badges on the tailgate and underneath the rearview mirrors.
The Basalt Dark Edition’s cabin carries over the all-black theme for the leatherette upholstery and various trim pieces, like the gear lever. Additionally, there’s red stitching on the dashboard, seats and armrests, ‘Dark Edition’ embossing on the seat backs, illuminated sill plates, and ambient and footwell lighting. The Basalt Dark Edition is based on the top-spec Max trim and costs Rs 23,000 more.
Citroen Aircross Dark Edition
Price: Rs 13.13 lakh to Rs 14.27 lakh

Alongside the Basalt and C3 hatchback, the Citroen Aircross SUV is also available in a Dark Edition. It gets the same Perla Nera paint finish, exclusive ‘Dark’ badging and dark chrome exterior trims. The blacked-out aesthetic is retained in the Aircross Dark Edition’s cabin, with the same leatherette upholstery, gloss-black trim pieces and red stitching as the Basalt Dark Edition.
Illuminated sill plates and ambient and footwell lighting have also been included. Available solely in the Aircross’ range-topping Max 5-seat variants, the Dark Edition package costs an additional Rs 22,500.
MG Astor Blackstorm
Price: Rs 13.78 lakh to Rs 14.81 lakh

The MG Astor Blackstorm, with its black-and-red theme, follows a design philosophy similar to the Hyundai Exter Knight Edition. The all-black finish on the exterior is peppered with bright red highlights on the bumpers, brake calipers and side mirrors, while the headlights get a smoked effect.
Inside, the Astor Blackstorm offers Tuxedo Black upholstery with red stitching, ‘Blackstorm’ embroidery on the front headrests, and red accents on the air-con vents, steering wheel and doors. Buyers can only opt for the Blackstorm package in the Astor’s mid-spec Select trim (both manual and automatic transmissions) for a premium of Rs 34,000.
All prices are ex-showroom, India.
