After many teasers and a number of concepts showcased over the years at previous motor shows, Tata Motors has officially unveiled the new Sierra SUV in India. This marks the return of the iconic Sierra nameplate, which was discontinued in 2003.
- Prices will be out on November 25
- Gets a boxy design outside and a 3-screen layout in the cabin
- Will debut Tata’s new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines
New Tata Sierra exterior design
A boxy silhouette and a mix of simple and contemporary elements

The Tata Sierra combines a boxy design with modern elements, giving it a distinctly contemporary look. At the front, a contrasting gloss-black panel neatly integrates the connected LED DRLs, projector LED headlights, and the Tata logo. The bumper adds a rugged touch with its gloss-black accents and faux silver skid plate, while two pixel-shaped LED fog lamps on either side complete the clean and sophisticated appearance.

The Sierra’s modern-looking profile is emphasised by flush-type door handles, which enhance its appeal. While it doesn’t have the curved glass windows of the original Sierra, the black-painted section between the B- and C-pillars creates a similar visual effect. Other highlights include 19-inch alloy wheels, black body cladding over the wheel arches and doors, black ORVMs, and black roof rails, which contribute to its bold, contemporary stance.

At the rear, the Sierra features a full-width LED taillight bar that gives the back a clean look. The rear bumper mirrors the front, with gloss-black accents and a faux silver skid plate that breaks up the minimalistic design.
New Tata Sierra interior design and features
Three screens on the dashboard and plenty of features

Inside, the Sierra features three screens on the dashboard: one for the driver’s display and two for infotainment, which can synchronise content between them. It comes with the same four-spoke steering wheel as the Tata Curvv, with an illuminated Tata logo and touch-sensitive controls.

The cabin has a black and grey theme, and the massive panoramic sunroof that stretches to the C-pillar gives it an airy feel. It gets 5 seats inside with a dual-tone beige and grey theme. All seats get adjustable headrests and 3-point seatbelts.
Other feature highlights include dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, powered and ventilated front seats, rear sunshades, a 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS and an electronic parking brake.

Debuts two new 1.5-litre engines for Tata Motors
The new Tata Sierra will debut the carmaker’s flagship 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, first showcased at the Auto Expo 2023, which will also make its debut in the larger Tata Harrier and Tata Safari on December 9. It will generate around 170hp and 280Nm and will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
This is not the only new engine for the Sierra, as Tata will also offer a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol powertrain with the SUV, as previously reported. This engine will allow Tata Motors to price the Sierra aggressively.
A 1.5-litre diesel engine, already used in the Tata Curvv and Tata Nexon, will also be available. It will produce 118hp and 260Nm and come with both manual and automatic transmission options.
New Tata Sierra launch date and expected prices
Prices expected to start from Rs 11 lakh
Prices of the new Tata Sierra will be revealed on November 25, which we expect will fall in the Rs 11-20 lakh ballpark.
Prices are ex-showroom, India
