Tata Motors launched the Nexon EV in India back in 2020 as its first all-electric passenger vehicle. Since then, the SUV has received a facelift, larger battery options, as well as several new variants. The Nexon EV has also been one of the key drivers of Tata’s EV sales dominance over the past few years. Keep reading to get answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the Mahindra XUV400 rival.

1. What is the Tata Nexon EV price?

Rs 12.49 lakh onwards.

Before discussing the electric Nexon’s price range, note that the compact SUV is available in two guises: medium range (MR) and long range (LR). The Nexon EV MR and LR’s respective price ranges are Rs 12.49 lakh-14.79 lakh and Rs 13.99 lakh-17.19 lakh, both ex-showroom.

2. What are the Tata Nexon EV features?

Panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen, V2L and V2V charging.

If you were to buy the Nexon EV’s top model, you’d get creature comforts like a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and Arcade.ev app suite, voice-operated panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and a 9-speaker JBL setup. It also gets the a 7.2kW AC charger from the factory, V2L and V2V charging and a frunk.

Other feature highlights include LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, a wireless charger, a 360-degree camera setup and front parking sensors. The Tata Nexon EV also boasts 5-star Bharat NCAP safety ratings for all variants. None of the Nexon EV trims feature an ADAS suite.

3. What are the Tata Nexon EV specs?

30kWh (129hp motor) and 45kWh (144hp motor) options.

Tata has fitted a permanent magnet synchronous motor in the Nexon EV, which sends drive to the front wheels only. The Nexon EV LR, which has a 45kWh battery pack, is good for 144hp and 215Nm. On the other hand, the 30kWh MR version makes a slightly less 129hp, though torque is identical to the LR variant.

4. What is the Tata Nexon EV range on a 100 percent charge?

Up to 489km, as per Tata.

The Nexon EV has a claimed range of 489km (45kWh LR) and 275km (30kWh MR) on the ARAI cycle. But, as per Tata’s real-world C75 range tests, the LR offers up to 375km, while the MR settles for 230km. In our Nexon EV LR range test with mixed (city and highway) driving, we got a range of 350km, which is close to Tata’s C75 figure, which translates to an average efficiency of 7.79km/kWh. 5. Does Tata offer lifetime battery warranty with the Nexon EV?

Exclusive to 45kWh trims.

All Nexon EV 45kWh trims are available with a 15-year/unlimited kilometres (the brand calls it ‘lifetime’) warranty as standard. This is twice the previously offered 8 year/1,60,000km warranty. Lifetime, here, indicates the road-legal age of the vehicle, which is 15 years from the date of registration. Notably, only first owners can avail the battery warranty. 6. Is the Tata Nexon EV better than the petrol version in user-friendliness?

Excellent for city and intercity trips.

Our Nexon EV facelift review states that it delivers power in a more linear manner than the previous SUV. While the Nexon diesel, petrol and CNG models suffer from some turbo lag initially, that’s never the case with the EV sibling. Being an EV, NVH levels are also comparatively lower. Considering all of the above, the Nexon EV makes for an excellent city and intercity runabout that’s tractable and has a zero-carbon footprint. For long distances, though, the ICE Nexons may still be better.
