Mahindra XUV700 and 3XO continue to see robust demand. As per a dealer source, the waiting periods can go up to a month for the XUV700 and up to one year for its smaller sibling, depending on the trim and powertrain. However, the wait time is down for most of the variants of these SUVs. In February, Mahindra overtook Hyundai to become India’s second-largest-selling automaker thanks to rising SUV sales.

Compared to February, the waiting period for most XUV700 variants has been halved to two weeks, and some are available immediately. The top-spec AX7 L variants have the highest waiting period of up to a month. One must note that XUV700 variants with an electronic stability program, six-seat configuration and dual-tone paint do not have a specified waiting period.

The XUV700 gets a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel, with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. However, only the diesel variant comes with an AWD option. The Mahindra XUV700 is priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 25.74 lakh, and it rivals the Tata Harrier, Safari, MG Hector, Hector Plus and the Hyundai Alcazar.

The XUV 3XO’s base trim, MX1, has the highest waiting time of up to a year, unchanged from February. That’s because Mahindra produces fewer units of this petrol-only version. The other 3XO petrol and diesel variants have seen a significant drop in waiting times to slightly over two months, and some are even available immediately.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with three engine options. While manual transmission is standard, the versions with a 111hp, 1.2-litre petrol mill or a 131hp, 1.2-litre direct-injection petrol unit can be had with a torque converter. The 117hp, 1.5-litre diesel variants are available with AMT. The XUV 3XO’s prices start at Rs 7.99 lakh and go up to Rs 15.56 lakh. Rivals include the Kia Syros, Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq and Hyundai Venue.
