Tata Motors has finally launched the Sierra midsize SUV at Rs 11.49 lakh after the recent unveiling of its production-spec avatar. However, the brand has only revealed the price of the entry-level Sierra Smart+, which comes with a 106hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a manual gearbox. At its price point, it locks horns with popular midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder, as well as the Tata Curvv coupe-SUV. Here’s how the Sierra base model’s price compares with that of its rivals.

The lower trims of most of these models come with a naturally aspirated engine. The Kushaq and Taigun’s entry-level trims, however, get a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
The most affordable of these are the Citroen Aircross and Basalt, both with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, followed by the MG Astor and Curvv.
Among all these midsize SUVs, the Sierra Smart+ is the most expensive base-spec variant. For context, it costs Rs 76,000 more than the entry-level E trim of the segment’s bestselling model, the Creta, Rs 99,000 more than the Victoris’ LXi and Rs 49,000 more than the Elevate SV.
Tata says the Sierra’s base variant is well-kitted, offering features such as a manual AC with rear vents, all-LED lighting, all four power windows, six airbags, disc brakes on all wheels and rear parking sensors.
All prices are ex-showroom, India.
